I am originally from New York City and grew up there. After the death of my father, my mother returned with my younger brother and me to Germany when I was 8 years old.
After I finished school, I decided to study dentistry at the University of Aachen. Why? A pivotal moment in my decision was an accident I had at the age of 10: while on my bike, I fell head first onto the street and broke all my upper front teeth. We went to our local dentist who would end up influencing my whole life with his treatment. I admired his way of keeping me calm, his artistic skills and how he improved my smile again. Since then, I wanted to become a great dentist to heal people and give them their smiles back – and I have never regretted it!
After working as an assistant, in the early 90's I bought this long-established office located on the famous Königsallee street, known all over the world as a luxury shopping destination.
I worked with my mentor and the former owner, Dr. Dieter Hübner, for many years. He opened this office in the 1960s. He was one of the first implantologists in Germany and was very experienced in doing All-on-4 and All-on-6 cases when nobody else in Germany knew about them. This gave me the wonderful possibility of being experienced in doing fixed-full-mouth rehabilitations for over 30 years.
We have also been pioneers in being sustainable and responsible for our environment in my dental office for over 60 years. One example is the use of glasses instead of plastic cups for rinsing, which has allowed us to prevent the use of more than 750,000 plastic cups over the years! Another example is how we have used digital x-rays for more than 20 years.
With the advantage of having our own fully digital dental lab with master technicians integrated in our office, and using Digital Smile Design (DSD) technology and other high-end dental techniques, I am able to create high-quality aesthetic full-mouth rehabilitations in a comfortable way and with predictable results for my patients. They can get their smiles back in only a few sessions.
In my work, I am proud that my experience in all disciplines allows me to provide all-round dentistry, true assessments and treatment plans. In difficult cases in which other colleagues may give up, I am happy to be able to go further and help those patients who are often desperate. My goal is to restore and revitalise health, and in the long run, to promote ‘better ageing’.
Every single day, I’m inspired by seeing my patients smile when I finish a case. Every case inspires me to begin the next one.
In my heart I am a family man and most of my time away from the clinic is spent with my wife Melike and our four children. My wife is a fantastic cook and I love sitting in the kitchen chatting with her while she prepares everything. Of course, I also enjoy eating her delicious healthy meals afterwards! I love playing golf and going hiking with my family, because it frees the mind and lets us feel connected to nature.
